This month we're throwing back to the 1970s. Each wallpaper uses the ultimate 70s typeface (Bauhaus) and I brought back the "faded bars" background design to make it more era appropriate.
Every logo on the Tigers wallpaper is from the aforementioned decade, with the exception of the Tampa Bay Rays; I'm using their "fauxback" logo in this instance. Old school TV network logos are also utilized (with the exception of the very new Fox Sports 1).
The other teams have retro graphics (with the exception of the Loons because they have never made a change in their short history) and cap logos for opponent indicators. I wanted to do something different for these teams but using old logos wasn't an option because so many teams do not have these and I wanted to minimize confusion.
A few notes for this month:
• The Tigers game at the Yankees on Saturday the 20th is currently listed as "no TV". YES is carrying the game for New York so I'm assuming that Fox Sports Detroit will broadcast it. If this turns out to not be the case, I'll update the wallpaper and the DSC/DSW.
• The Midwest League All-Star Game on Tuesday the 23rd will be broadcast on the American Sports Network. WBSF CW46 will carry the game in the Tri-Cities; it will be on WWMT-2 CW7 in western Michigan (some Lugnuts fans may be able to pick this station up). There is no Lansing-area station broadcasting the game.
"Retro Month" returns for July!
Baseball, baseball, and more baseball. There''s also the rest of the NFL Draft and the NBA Draft lottery on the DSC and DSW. Hope you like baseball!
Detroit Pistons • Detroit Red Wings • Detroit Tigers • Grand Rapids Drive • Grand Rapids Griffins • Great Lakes Loons • Kalamazoo Wings • Lansing Lugnuts • Toledo Mud Hens • Toledo Walleye • West Michigan Whitecaps
UPDATE (4/15): The Red Wings' first round playoff schedule has been added to the DSC and DSW. The Tigers had their game on the 21st versus the Yankees moved to FSD+ so the Tigers wallpaper has been updated as well.
I am now using the logo outlines (or lack thereof) specified by the teams themselves instead of outlining every logo the same way. Exceptions had to be made for the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates logos. These logos do not specify any outlines; ones had to be added for visibility purposes.
The font has changed to IRON MAN OF WAR 001 RIVETLESS on the wallpapers and the site. I wanted something a bit different and this fits the bill.
The Detroit Sports Calendar and Wallpaper will both be updated with Red Wings (and Pistons, by sheer miracle) playoff games once the schedule is announced. Further updates will happen if necessary.
Welcome to the latest version of this web site! I have rebuilt everything from the ground up in order to provide a better experience for both end users and myself.
The monthly wallpapers and Detroit Sports Calendar will now be on a single post.
I have increased the amount of wallpapers each month to 23. The maximum resolution is now 5120 x 2880 and there are a few with 21:9 aspect ratio for those with super-wide screen monitors. Your wallpaper resolution should be automatically detected; If not, just pick the closest one.
The release schedule is back to midnight of the first of each month.
Farewell, Plymouth Whalers. Wallpapers for the new OHL team in Flint will be on this site next September.
